WordPress 2.2.3 Upgrade

I just upgraded all of my blogs to the latest and greatest WordPress, version 2.2.3. Whew! I’m glad that’s done. I won’t have to do it again until the next upgrade. Which is scheduled for Monday, September 24th.

Zinio Sucks (as do most spammers)

Many moons ago I had a subscription to MacWorld through Zinio. Zinio is a service that gives you an electronic version of a magazine, and the subscription I got was free with some Mac purchase I made in August 2004. It actually wasn’t that bad a product, but the funky player was a hassle. I […]

Podcast Advertising

I’m wondering if anyone out there has any experience with advertising in their podcasts. My podcast over at ShowBizRadio.net had 2,785 downloads in July. I’m wondering if it is worth it to try to sell advertising around that size podcast. I’m thinking of embedded audio inside the podcast. I’m experimenting with scripting SoX – Sound […]

Why I Loathe Verizon (aka Verizon Sucks)

Around two to three years ago, I signed up to get DSL from Verizon with a guaranteed price so I wouldn’t have to worry about future price increases. A few months ago, Verizon “discontinued” my DSL package, so my price increased. Their fine print allowed them to change packages, which cancelled my guaranteed price. So […]

What does DRM stand for?

Full Feeds Available

I’ve just switched back to full feeds for the RSS for PlanetMike. I turned them off a while ago when Bitacle (now Muestrarios.org (Spanish for “Sample Books”)) was stealing tons of my articles. Let me know if you prefer the full feeds or not. You can get my feed from http://www.planetmike.com/journal/feed/.

Net Neutrality vs. Comcast

If I am paying X amount of bucks for a connection to the wider Internet, I should be able to use that connection for any content, over any protocol I wish to use. Comcast is now blocking an entire class of customers, by restricting all access to the BitTorrent protocol. I use BT to download […]

Multi-Player Desktop Tower Defense

Remember Desktop Tower Defense? The multiplayer version is almost out. It’s being worked on by Casual Collective. I was invited to be part of the Beta program yesterday, and since then I’ve blown nearly 90 minutes of live playing against other people in real time. The game play is almost exactly the same. But some […]

Technorati Slowdown?

So I’m checking my status/rank at various sites and discover that my Technorati rank is non-existent, as I never claimed my blog when I changed my url from /blog/ to /journal/ . But several times as I’ve been using the Technorati web site, I’ve noticed that pages are coming up very slowly, and a few […]

Web Browser Usage Update

Bask in March 2006, I wrote in Web Browser Usage about the six main web browsers (MS IE, Firefox, Safari, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera) that are used by visitors to one of the sites I manage. The site these logs are generated from is a small site that is not actively updated any longer. I’ve updated […]
