Multi-Player Desktop Tower Defense

screen capture of Multi-player Desktop Tower DefenseRemember Desktop Tower Defense? The multiplayer version is almost out. It’s being worked on by Casual Collective. I was invited to be part of the Beta program yesterday, and since then I’ve blown nearly 90 minutes of live playing against other people in real time. The game play is almost exactly the same. But some of your strategies will need to evolve, because it is a race to see who can complete their screen first. And when one person finishes off all the creeps on a level, everyone starts the next round. And the damage and cost values are slightly different, so some of your expectations won’t quite be the same. Actually, if your expectations are the same, then your results will be different. You can play with up to 5 other people. You gain points at the end of a game based on how well you do. There are also a few new variations, such as super powers, some of which let you zap other players’ games. I haven’t been brave enough yet to try one of those.

There’s no date yet on when the game will be opened to everyone, but it will be exciting when it happens.

Hi MikeJ, Some of the strategies really have to be tweaked a bit from the standalone game. I lost my first 5 or 6 games, before I started understanding all the tweaks.

As the CasualCollective.com web site is now open to the world for free without needing an invite, I am closing comments on this post. And to the person who felt that submitting their request many times over the past few days was necessary, I found it very rude.
